COVID-19

Update from the Superintendent

September 3, 2021

Dear BUUSD Community,

I just have a quick update before we head home for the long weekend...

We want to let the community know that we had our first positive Covid case of the year brought to our attention yesterday with a BCEMS community member. This is important for you to know because we're changing our approach to communicating these incidents with all of you this year.

Our plan is to no longer send a mass notification to everyone if there is no plan to shut down one of the schools. Instead, only close contacts will be notified immediately by both text message and a follow-up email with detailed information for next steps. The idea here is to make sure we're not sending too many messages to folks, and to also make sure that when we do, you know it's important! We also understand that it can be a scary message to get in such an unexpected way.

Our sincere hope is that we never have to send such a text or email to any of you, but we want you to be prepared in case we have to. As always, our goal is to keep all of your children safe and healthy while keeping our schools open to the fullest extent possible. Thank you for putting your trust in all of us to do this, and have a great Labor Day weekend with your friends and family.

Chris
